Canva

Canva templates are provided for players to use, these can be shared with game of English teachers or any teacher who can help players edit their cards online.

Each card contains a paragraph that contains at least one example of the card’s concept.

A good card is memorable because it contains a story that helps the reader understand the concept.

A great card is also funny, exciting, intriguing, or triggers powerful emotions that make the concept and story unforgettable.

Fun and Creativity

The GZ Cards are a fun and creative way to put the English you learn into practice by writing mini stories that feature specific grammar concepts.

Gamified Learning

The gamified methodology helps you cement what you learn because you create your own personalised examples of each concept. Each time you create a new card you collect a new concept.

Your writing improves rapidly because you concentrate on putting together elegant and well constructed sentences as you build the base of the pyramid of grammar knowledge, concept by concept, stone by stone.

Taking time to write accurate sentences helps with speaking because putting together sentences at your own pace prepares you to do the same in real life conversations.

You are encouraged to write stories about yourself which makes it easy to remember what you learn and provides you with a growing set of sentences and topics to explore in conversation.

Focus

The GZ cards can used as part of Game of English – The Line of Time, or as a compliment to any English course, and they have proved very successful for students who require a crash course in grammar or for students with a solid base of speaking skills who wish to consolidate their grammar knowledge.

Seven Sets of Cards

The grammar curriculum of the A1 and A2 levels has been carefully divided into seven sections and distributed among the seven sets of cards. The cards are arranged in ascending order of difficulty, however, the cards may be completed in any order that a player or teacher sees fit. For example, it might make sense to begin the GZ2 cards which feature prepositions of position.

Grammar and Verb Tenses

While there are no individual GZ Cards that directly feature verb tenses, the cards encourage players to mindfully use verb tenses by using a system of dots that represents the verb tenses. Depending on the level of each player, a teacher may delay the introduction of the verb tenses aspect until it makes sense to do so, such as when a students asks about the dots. The system of dots is called The Matrix Verb System and is further explored in a parrallel section of the game.
